Stanford Versus Notre Dame In College World Series This Saturday On CBS

Stanford head coach Mark Marquess and the Cardinal are headed back to Omaha for the fourth straight year


No. 8 national seed Stanford (45-16) will open 2002 College World Series action versus unseeded Notre Dame (49-16) in a nationally televised CBS game on Saturday, June 15 (12:30 pm, CDT/10:30 am, PDT). Stanford is extending a school record with its fourth consecutive appearance at the College World Series and making its 14th trip to Omaha overall. The Cardinal captured CWS titles in 1987 and 1988 before finishing as the CWS-runner up in each of the last two seasons (2000, 2001). Notre Dame is appearing in the CWS for the first time since 1957. The 56th College World Series will be played Friday-Saturday, June 14-22, 2002, at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
