Charlie Hatfield enters his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Stanford men's soccer program. Hatfield, who is primarily responsible for on-field coaching, has eight years of experience as an assistant coach for the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS (2001), West Texas A&M (1997-2000) and Texas A&M (1994-96). He is also currently the head coach for the Boys Under-18 Palo Alto Crew youth team.
In his most recent collegiate position at West Texas A&M, Hatfield helped coach the men's team to a pair of Division II Elite Eight appearances in addition to a Lone Star Conference title in 1999. He was also on the coaching staff for a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances by the Texas A&M women's squad during his three seasons in College Station.
"He brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience and soccer knowledge to this position" said Stanford head coach Bret Simon.
Hatfield played four seasons of collegiate soccer at Wisconsin-Milwaukee before graduating from the school with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture in 1990. He later earned a Master's degree in Architecture from Texas A&M in 1997. Hatfield currently works for Stoecker & Northway Architects in Palo Alto.
He is single and resides in Menlo Park.
