David Johnson begins his second year as an assistant coach with the Stanford women?s volleyball program. Johnson?s primary responsibilities include assisting with practices and game day operations.

Johnson brings a wide array of coaching experience to the Cardinal program, most recently as a volunteer assistant coach with the U.S. National Team earlier this year. Johnson spent 1998 and 1999 as a volunteer assistant coach for the women?s volleyball team at Sacramento State and also doubled as the head girls coach for the High Voltage Volleyball Club (Sacramento, CA). In addition, Johnson has head coaching experience with the UC Davis men?s team (1995-98), as well as the Dixon High School (1995-97) and Davis Volleyball Club (1992-95) girls? teams.

Johnson spent his collegiate playing career as a starting setter at UC Davis (1993-95) after transferring from George Mason (1990-92). Johnson was also a setter at the U.S. Olympic Festival (1994-95).

Johnson is single and lives in San Francisco.
