At Stanford: Playing alongside '99 Biletnikoff Award winner and First-Team All-America Troy Walters placed Pitts firmly as the Cardinal's #2 receiver the past two years...But, this season, Pitts will assume the role as Stanford's #1 receiver...During the last two seasons, Pitts quietly earned the reputation as one of the toughest receivers in the Pac-10 and one of the most productive in Stanford history...He is already among the school's all-time top 10 in receptions, yards and touchdowns and by the time his career concludes after the 2000 season, Pitts' name is likely to appear near the top of every receiving category in the Stanford record book ...He begins the 2000 campaign eighth in Cardinal history in receptions with 145, 10th in receiving yards with 2,060 and tied for sixth with 16 career touchdown receptions...In the last two seasons, he has 132 receptions for 1,865 yards and 15 touchdowns while starting all 23 games for Stanford in 1998 and '99...In '98, he caught 74 passes for 1,012 yards and seven touchdowns in concluding one of the finest individual seasons in school history...His 74 receptions ranked third best at Stanford and his 1,012 yards was the fourth highest single season total in school history...Tremendous competitor and team player...One of the Cardinal leaders in 2000.

The 1999 Season: For the second straight season, DeRonnie was a key member of the Cardinal's high-powered passing attack...He was named Second-Team All-Pac-10 after catching 58 passes for 853 yards and eight touchdowns...Despite being slowed by an ankle injury for the last month of the season, he still managed to be a force in Stanford's passing game...He caught at least one TD in seven of the Cardinal's 11 regular season games...Had three games with over 100 receiving yards, including a season-high 123 vs. Oregon State...He ranked fourth in the Pac-10 and 41st nationally in receptions per game (5.27) and 39th in the country and third in the conference in receiving yards per game (77.55)...He caught nine passes on two occasions in '99...Had nine receptions for 119 yards and two TDs vs. UCLA and nine catches for 109 yards and one touchdown vs. Washington.

The 1998 Season: All DeRonnie Pitts did in 1998 was quietly put together one of the finest seasons for a wide receiver in Stanford history...In his first season as a starter, Pitts became Stanford's go-to receiver after Troy Walters missed several games with an injury...Pitts simply went about his business every game, putting together a very consistent season that included 74 receptions for 1,012 yards and seven touchdowns, which all led the team...He became only the third receiver in school history to record at least 74 catches and only the fourth receiver at Stanford to gain over 1,000 receiving yards in a season...He was second in the Pac-10 and 12th in the NCAA in receptions per game (6.73) and fifth in the conference and 23rd nationally in receiving yards per game (92.0)...Had four games of over 100 receiving yards, including a seven-reception, 169-yard, two TD effort against Arizona State...He had a career-best 10 catches vs. Oregon for 158 yards and one TD...He had nine receptions for 124 yards and one TD vs. Oregon State and eight catches for 112 yards at Notre Dame...Had a season and career-best 78-yard TD reception from Todd Husak vs. Arizona State...Returned seven kickoffs for 178 yards (25.4 average) and five punts for 52 yards (10.4 average)...Led the team with 1,242 yards in all-purpose running...Winner of the Deswarte-Eller Award as the team's top sophomore and the Phil Moffat Award as the team's top offensive special teams player

The 1997 Season: Played in three and four-receiver sets...Finished the season fourth on the team with 13 receptions for 195 yards (15.0 avg.) and one touchdown in eight games...Missed three games due to a hamstring injury...Had four receptions for 51 yards in Stanford's second game of the year at nationally-ranked North Carolina...Against UCLA, he caught three balls for 79 yards, including a season-best 48-yarder...Scored his only TD of the season on a 17-yard pass from QB Chad Hutchinson at Arizona.

The 1996 Season: Redshirted the '96 season.

In High School: Blue Chip Report named DeRonnie an All-America wide receiver and one of the top recruits in the nation out of Saginaw High School in Michigan in 1995...Along with starting at wide receiver, DeRonnie also started at defensive back as well as being the team's place-kicker, punter and punt return specialist for three seasons...He caught 21 passes for 401 yards and five TDs and recorded 37 tackles and four interceptions...All-Midwest Region selection by SuperPrep Magazine...The Detroit Free Press ranked DeRonnie as the eighth best recruit in the state...He was named First-Team All-State and First-Team All-Conference...Also chosen to the state's Dream Team...Conference MVP following his senior season...First-Team All-Conference defensive back as a junior...He had 14 receptions for 193 yards and one TD as a junior along with 24 tackles and four interceptions...Named the Michigan Student-Athlete of the Year by the Detroit News following his senior season...Played basketball and baseball and competed in track in HS...Member of the National Honor Society.
