D.J. Powers enters his third season as an assistant coach for both the women’s and men’s golf teams.
He joined the Stanford team after spending two years as the head coach of Santa Clara’s men’s and women’s golf teams. In 1999, his women’s team posted its highest tournament finish in school history – a second place showing at the Colby Invitational. The women’s team also set and reset the single round scoring record eight times in two years.
He was an assistant golf coach at Aptos High School in 1997 as well.
Powers, who graduated from San Jose State Unversity with a degree in business management, was a four-year letterwinner at SJSU on the men’s golf team. In 1996, Powers and his teammates finished 10th at the NCAA Championships. He was a three-time scholar athlete award winner while at SJSU.
Powers resides in Palo Alto.
