International Competition: Won the 100 and 200 butterfly at the U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash., with a time of 2:08.07 in the 200 and set the course record in the prelims of the 100 with a mark of 58.18... she paced the field by nearly seven-tenths of a second in the finals with a mark of 58.31... competed in the U.S. Trials in Indianapolis in July, 2009, where she was third in the 100 butterfly (57.46) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:07.40)... she posted the fastest preliminary time (2:07.48), before picking up her second bronze of the event... proved herself as one of America's top butterfly talents at the 2008 Olympics...earned a silver medal for the 400-meter medley relay, as she posted a time of 58.59 seconds in her leg of the Americans' heat-winning swim in the preliminaries...was the top U.S. swimmer in the 200-meter fly, finishing seventh with a time of 2:07.57...also advanced to the semifinals of the 100-meter fly in Beijing... qualified for the 2008 Olympics after twice breaking the 24-year-old U.S. Olympic Trials record of "Madam Butterfly" - three-time Olympic gold medalist Mary T. Meagher - in the 200-meter fly, peaking with a winning time of 2:06.75 in the event finals...also finished second in the 100 fly (58.21)...competed at the 2007 World University Games, placing among the top-10 in the 400 medley relay (second), 50 fly (seventh), 200 fly (eighth) and 100 fly (10th)...placed fifth in the 200 fly at the 2006 Short Course Worlds...finished third in the 50 fly at the 2004 World Cup in Daejong, South Korea...competed in three events at the 2004 Olympic Trials (200 fly, 200 IM and 100 fly)...was the 2005 Summer Senior National champion in both the 100 fly and the 200 fly...earned three top-five finishes at the 2003 Olympic Youth Festival (second in the 100 fly, third in the 200 fly and fifth in the 400 IM)... has competed in Summer Senior Nationals in 2003 and 2006, and in the Spring Senior Nationals in both 2003 and 2004...finished third in the 200 fly at the 2005 World Championship Trials.
Stanford Career: 24-time All-American and four-time NCAA Champion... also a seven-time Pac-10 Champion... two-time first team Academic All-American and All-District VIII... is the first Cardinal flyer to sweep the event since Misty Hyman in 1998, and is just the third swimmer in NCAA history to win the 200 fly three times or more in a career. Breeden now holds five of the top-nine times in NCAA history in the 200 fly, as her time of 1:52.39 was ninth. She also has the top two times, including the American record of 1:49.92, set at the 2009 Pac-10 meet.
Stanford in 2009-10 (Senior): Honda Award Finalist, joining teammate (and winner) Julia Smit as two of the four finalists... five-time All-American at final NCAA Meet, where the Cardinal finished as national runners-up... swept the 100 and 200 butterfly at the NCAAs, posting a time of 1:52.39 in the 200 fly and 51.43 in the 100 fly... won the 100 fly at the Pac-10 Championships for the second-straight year, but was unable to defend her title in the longer event, finishing second.... first team Academic All-American and Academic All-District VIII... also a part of the winning 400 medley relay team for the Pac-10 Champions... missed much of the fall due to illiness.
Stanford in 2008-09 (Junior): Seven-time All-American during her third campaign, winning the NCAA individual title in the 200 butterfly for the second time... named an All-American for a third time in the 100 and 200 fly, 200 individual medley, and 200 and 400 medley relays... earned second All-America honors in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays... named a first team Academic All-American by CoSIDA... won the 200 fly setting a meet record with a mark of 1:50.98, winning the event twice in three seasons... finished second at the NCAAs in the 100 fly with a mark of 51.34... ranked No. 1 nationally in the butterfly with a time of 50.87 in the 100 and 1:49.92 in the 200... ranked fourth to teammate Julia Smit nationally in the 200 IM (1:54.32)... her time of 1:54.32 in the 200 IM was second-fastest all-time at the Pac-10s... won her first career conference title in the 100 fly, beating fellow Olympian and Cal Bear Dana Vollmer in the finals with a time of 50.87, breaking the Stanford record in the process... won her thrid consecutive Pac-10 title in the 200 fly with an American, U.S. Open and NCAA record (1:49.92)... part of Stanford-record 400 relay team at Pac-10s... also a part of the school-record 200 relay team at NCAAs.
Stanford in 2007-08 (Sophomore): Earned six All-America honors for her performance at the NCAA Championships, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 200 fly (1:53.27) and fourth-place showing in the 100 fly (51.68)...was named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-District At-Large Team, earning second-team District VIII honors...swam key legs for Stanford's second-place team in the 200 medley relay (1:37.63) and third-place squad in the 400 medley relay (3:33.77), while also participating on the Cardinal's 400 free relay team that set a school record and finished fifth with a time of 3:13.77...was also given All-America accolades for her ninth-place finish in the 200 IM, which she swam in 1:56.30 - good for fourth in Stanford history...captured her second consecutive Pac-10 title in the 200 fly with a Stanford-record time of 1:52.27...also finished second in the 200 IM (1:56.45) and third in the 100 fly (51.75)...helped the Cardinal establish a school record with a time of 1:37.57 in the 200 medley relay, however Stanford finished second at the Pac-10 Championships.
Stanford in 2006-07 (Freshman): NCAA champion in the 200 fly with a meet-record time of 1:53.02...also earned All-America honors in the 100 fly (second - 51.72), 400 medley relay (third - 3:34.86), 200 medley relay (fourth - 1:38.37), 200 IM (fifth - 1:58.03) and the 200 free relay (fifth - 1:29.57)...was part of Stanford's ninth-place team in the 400 free relay...won the 200 fly at her first career Pac-10 Championships, finishing the race in 1:52.99...also earned a Pac-10 title with the Cardinal's 200 medley relay team, which touched the wall in 1:37.71...finished second in the 100 fly at 51.44, the second-fastest time in the Stanford annals...also placed second in the 200 IM (1:56.92)...was a Stanford Block "S" Award winner.
