Evan was born into a family of avid sailors and spent much of her earlyyears cruising around Florida and the Bahamas, and became acompetitive sailor at the age of 8. She raced optis' for severalyears, progressing to national and international competitions, inwhich she represented the United States. She became an avid matchracer at age 15 and was ranked as high as 37th in the world in theISAF Women's Rankings. Most recently, she was a member of the UnitedStates Sailing Team and represented the USA in the pre-Olympics inBeijing. At Stanford, she has "had the privelege to sail with someamazing crews including alum Joanna Madsen, current senior CarrieDenning and All-American Kelly McKenna." She is a captain on the 2007/08 team and A-division women's skipper, "and I can't wait for an amazing season!"
