Former Stanford goalkeeper Rebecca Shapiro returns to The Farm this fall for her second season as a volunteer assistant coach working with the team's goalkeepers. Shapiro, a standout goalkeeper for the Cardinal from 1998-2001, served in the same capacity during the 2002 season while completing her coursework in Urban Studies.

Shapiro earned First Team All-NorPac honors for the Cardinal in her final season of competition in 2001, recording seven of her 22 career shutouts during the campaign and posting a career-low 1.02 GAA. She also had a huge junior season with a 1.17 GAA, while posting career-highs in shutouts (11) and saves (148).

Shapiro also has three years of experience coaching goalkeepers in the Futures program, including one year as the Region 11 goalkeeper coordinator (West Region) and as a selector for Under-16 and Under-19 teams representing California at the National Futures Tournament. She has also coached at the Advanced Play camps at the University of Maryland. Shapiro is currently putting her degree to work as an Urban Planner in nearby East Palo Alto.
