The 1997 Season: Finished the season starting the final two games at tight end...He had just one reception, that coming on a 22-yard pass from Chad Hutchinson against Oregon State...Continued to show improvement throughout the season.

In High School: All-West Region selection by SuperPrep Magazine and Blue Chip Report...Tremendous athlete who played tight end, outside linebacker, defensive end and punter while at Newport High School in Washington...Both SuperPrep and Blue Chip named him All-West as a defensive lineman...He had eight catches for 240 yards and two TDs to go along with 57 tackles on defense his senior season...First-Team All-State tight end and First-Team All-Area as both a tight end and outside linebacker in '95...Seattle Times All-Star team selection as a tight end and OLB...First-Team All-Area as a tight end and defensive end following his junior season...Participated in track and basketball in HS...National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award finalist.
