Stanford Closes Home Schedule Against Oregon and San Diego State

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 15 Stanford women's lacrosse wraps up its home slate this week against a pair of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents, as it plays host to Oregon and San Diego State.

Stanford (8-4, 3-1 MPSF) will open the weekend against Oregon (7-7, 2-3 MPSF) on Friday at 5 p.m. (PT), and will conclude its home schedule against San Diego State (8-5, 3-2 MPSF) on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

Carolyn Bradley and Elizabeth Adam will be recognized on Sunday, as part of Senior Day.

Stanford spilt its two games this past week, knocking off Saint Mary's, 20-6, and falling at No. 4 Northwestern, 12-8.

Freshman Julia Burns had an outstanding week and was named the MPSF Rookie of the Week. Burns led Stanford in points (nine) and goals (seven) in its two games. She recorded hat tricks in both games, including a perfect day of shooting against Saint Mary's, scoring on all four of her shots.

Burns led the Cardinal against the defending national champion Northwestern, recording team highs in points (five), goals (three) and assists (two). After Northwestern scored five unanswered goals in the first half, Burns reeled off three goals and an assist in a 13 minute span to help Stanford close the gap to 8-7 going into halftime.

Burns has been crucial to the Cardinal's offensive effort this season and is second on the team with 25 points (17-8).

Junior Rachel Ozer had a strong performance against Saint Mary's notching six points on three goals and three assists. Ozer has scored in 11 of 12 games this season and leads Stanford in points (46), goals (31) and assists (15).

Anna Kim and Hannah Farr have provided strong all-around performances in the midfield. Kim leads the team with 37 draw controls and is tied for third on the team with 24 points (17-7). Farr has notched 23 points on 15 goals and eight assists.

Lyndsey Munoz has been solid in net for Stanford and recorded 17 saves in the past two games, with 14 of those stops coming against Northwestern. Her 14 saves in a single game rank 10th-best all-time in program history. Munoz finished the week with a .500 save percentage and garnered her second MPSF Defensive Player of the Week honor on the season.

Megan Lerner leads Stanford in ground balls (24) and caused turnovers (16), and is second on the team with 36 draw controls.

Oregon enters Friday's match on a two-game winning streak, after knocking off Fresno State, 18-8, and Saint Mary's, 19-9, this past week. Shannon Propst leads the Ducks with 55 points on 23 goals and 32 assists, followed by Carly O'Connell with 35 points (19-16) and Kate Cathell with 28 points (19-9).

Salliebeth Finnegan has played the majority of minutes in net for the Ducks and holds a 10.55 goals-against average and a .371 save percentage.

Stanford dropped its most recent match against Oregon, 13-10, in the MPSF Tournament championship match on April 29, 2012.

San Diego State is having a strong second season, after its inaugural year in 2012. However, the Aztecs dropped its only game last week to California, 13-11. San Diego State will travel to UC Davis on Friday before its match against Stanford on Sunday.

San Diego State is led by Michaela Jarvis who has tallied 56 points on 22 goals and 34 assists, followed by Bailey Ewing with 47 points (37-10) and Meris Walsh with 28 points (25-3).

Sammy Slattery has been the primary Aztec goalkeeper and boasts a .448 save percentage and a 10.06 goals-against average on the season.

Stanford won its only meeting against San Diego State, 17-11, on April 15, 2012.
