| An Olympic gold medalist and NCAA Champion, Johnson was one of Stanford's top freestylers and butterfliers in the 1980s. Johnson won three Olympic medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, Calif. - a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay, a gold medal in the 4x100 medley relay, and a silver medal in the 100m butterfly. At Stanford, she was a two-time NCAA Champion in 1986 and 1989 in the 100 butterfly and won four relay titles. At the Pac-10's in 1988, she won the 50 free and 100 fly and was named the Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year. In her career she won four Pac-10 crowns. She came to Stanford from Whittier Christian High School, where in 1984 she set the national record of: 53.95 in the 100 yard butterfly and the Division-I record in the 50 free (23.07). Johnson made Rivals.com's list for the "Top 100 Female Athletes in State History” for California. | |||||||||
