Box Score

SEATTLE - After almost a three-hour rain delay, the No. 15/16 Stanford softball team fell 6-5 at No. 14 Washington, Saturday, at Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle, Wash. The Cardinal drops to 28-14 overall and 5-8 in the Pac-12, while the Huskies improved to 33-12 and 11-5 in the conference.

Senior pitcher Teagan Gerhart dropped to 16-7 overall, taking the loss in the first game of the series. She allowed six runs on four hits, while issuing a season-high nine walks. Washington junior Kaitlin Inglesby (18-5) earned the win, striking out seven batters while giving up five runs on seven hits.

Both teams were held hitless and scoreless through the first three innings. Senior shortstop Jenna Rich blasted her seventh home run of the season, a solo shot to left field, to lead off the top of the fourth inning. The long ball brings her career count to 40, tying Michelle Smith ('08) for second-most in school history.

A 2:56 rain delay caused a break in the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Huskies had runners on first and second with one out when the delay came. After the break, the Washington came out swinging, ultimately scoring six runs on three hits to take a 6-1 lead.

The Cardinal fought back in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs on four hits, but ultimately came up short. Sophomore left fielder Leah White hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to score pinch runner Alyssa Lombardo. Freshman first baseman Kayla Bonstrom then hit a two run single up the middle, while sophomore designated player Erin Ashby drove in the fourth run on a fielder's choice.

Stanford and Washington will play a doubleheader on Sunday, April 21. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m. from Husky Softball Stadium.
