The Farm Report
No. 14 Stanford travels to No. 7 Oregon for a three-game Pac-12 Conference baseball series this weekend at PK Park.

Stanford, which won three of four games last week, has notched four straight Pac-12 series victories. Since dropping its opening league series to Utah (1-2), Stanford has picked up consecutive series wins over Washington State (2-1), USC (2-1), Washington (2-1) and Arizona (2-1).

For its latest series win, the Cardinal outlasted a red-hot Arizona club that entered the series with eight victories in its last nine games.

This will be Stanford's third series against a top-25 opponent. The Cardinal lost two of three at No. 17 Rice, swept No. 22 Texas and won two of three against No. 17 Arizona.

Stanford (22nd) is one of five Pac-12 teams ranked in the USA Today poll along with Oregon State (6th), Oregon (7th), UCLA (8th) and Arizona State (17th). Oregon and Oregon State sit atop the Pac-12 ladder, but only a handful of games separate the league's top seven teams.

In league play, Stanford leads the Pac-12 in batting avg. (.305) and slugging pct. (.431). The Cardinal is second in on-base pct. (.386) and runs scored (97) as senior RHP Mark Appel leads the league with five wins and 41 strikeouts.

Appel has faced Oregon three times in as many seasons. Appel is 0-1 against the Ducks with a 2.81 ERA in 16.0 IP. The All-American has surrendered 21 hits, 10 runs (five earned) and fanned 18 in outings with Oregon.

Stanford has won two straight, five of its last six and 13 of its last 16 contests. The latest 16-game stint came after the Cardinal dropped six of seven (March 8-26). Stanford won 10 of 12 to begin the season, including a nine-game winning streak from Feb. 20-March 5.

With the completion of its most recent four-game homestand, the Cardinal plays six of its next seven on the road beginning with this weekend's three-game series at Oregon (April 26-28). Stanford plays host to St. Mary's on April 30 before traveling to Arizona State (May 3-5).
