NCAA Championships Final Results 
ATHENS, Ga. - Stanford wrapped up its season on Friday afternoon, finishing in a tie for 13th with Arkansas at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on the University of Georgia Golf Course.
The No. 10 (Golfweek) Cardinal shot a 33-over-par 321 in the final round and settled in at 48-over-par 1200 for the four-day tournament. Stanford carded scores of 290, 288, and 301 over the first three days.
"The course was hard and dry, playing very fast," said Anne Walker, Stanford's Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf. "The pins were tucked and the combination proved tricky. Clearly we played very poorly and we were disappointed with our round. However, we are pleased with our 13th-place finish and believe that the lessons learned will only make us better in the future."
No. 1 USC (284-276-285-288), the tournament leader through all four rounds, won the national title at 1133 (-19) by 21 shots and its freshman Annie Park (70-67-70-71) recorded a 10-under 278 for a six-stroke individual victory.
No. 3 Duke (286-289-287-292) came in second at 1154, while No. 7 Purdue (289-289-295-300) checked in third with 1173.
Leading the way for the Cardinal was freshman Mariah Stackhouse, who finished in a tie for 29th, after posting a seven-over-par 295 (72-68-74-81).
"The conditions on the course were pretty tough Friday afternoon," Stackhose said. "It was much more windy than normal, which made course management a little harder. I think the biggest challenge was hitting accurate approach shots and being able to play the wind. I lost a lot of trust in my swing on the back nine, which resulted in some high scores."
"I allowed myself to get too flustered during the final round," Stackhouse continued. "As a result I didn't have as much confidence in my ability to recover with a few birdies."
Fellow rookie Lauren Kim finished at 299 (71-75-73-80) in a tie for 42nd overall, while senior Sally Watson checked in at 305 (76-73-77-79) for a tie for 73rd.
Sophomore Mariko Tumangan concluded the tournament play tied for 85th at 307 (71-72-77-87), as junior Danielle Frasier tied for 120th at 318 (84-76-77-81).
In each of the first three rounds, Stanford finished in the top 10 going as low as a tie for fifth with Purdue during the second day. Heading into Friday, Stanford was tied for seventh, six strokes back from a three-way tie for third.
On the windiest day of the championships where conditions were tough, an uncharacteristic seven-over-par 79 shot by Watson marked the team low of the round. The Cardinal averaged 81.6 on the par-72, 6,372-yard championship course on the last day in its highest round of the season.
Stanford’s tie for 13th marks the program’s best finish since 2007 when the team came in fifth.
"It's been a terrific season," Walker said. "This team has taken Stanford Golf back into the top 10 in the country and we are lucky to have such a hardworking group of student athletes."
