ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Stanford ended the first day of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Gill Coed National Championship in 15th-place. The team finished with 79 points in the A-Division and 50 points in the B-Division, totaling 129 points to wrap up Tuesday's racing.
Stanford entered the event as the nation's top-ranked coed squad.
Hans Henken and Rebecca King sailed in the A-Division, finishing 17th among the 18 teams.
Oliver Toole and Haley Kirk came in 11th in the B-Division, losing the head-to-head tiebreaker with Hobart and William Smith, also finishing the race with 50 points.
College of Charleston currently leads the field with a total score of 53.
The Cardinal hopes to rebound over the final two days of the championship regatta, the last national championship regatta of the sailing season.
