STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford sailing team finished first at the PCCSC Match Race Championship and seventh at the Victorian Coffee Urn regatta this weekend.
The Cardinal won its third conference championship regatta this season, placing first among eight teams at the PCCSC Match Race Championship and qualifying to the national championships Nov. 22-24 in Providence, R.I. Stanford won the deciding race in a best-of-three against Long Beach in the semifinals before defeating Hawaii 2-1 in the championship.
Scott Buckstaff, Hans Henken, McKenzie Wilson and Cam Hutton represented the Cardinal.
Stanford also competed at the Victorian Coffee Urn regatta in Cambridge, Mass., where it placed seventh. Lily Katz and Holly Tullo earned a fifth-place result in division-A with 52 points. The pair earned four top-10 finishes, including two in the top-five, in seven races.
Yuki Yoshiyasu and Sammy Steele raced to an eighth-place finish in division-B with 64 points. The duo finished with four top-10 and three top-five results.

The Stanford coed team was slotted second in the Oct. 30 Sailing World rankings with 387 points. Yale holds the top spot with 419 points and Georgetown ranks third with 373.
The Cardinal women are fifth in the women’s rankings with 212 points, following Yale (321), Boston College (273), Dartmouth (271) and Navy (233).

Stanford will compete at the ICSA/LP Singlehanded national regatta in Providence, R.I., next weekend.
