Cardinal Fifth Through Day One

KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – Through two rounds of the Pac-12 Preview at Nanea Golf Club, the Stanford women’s golf team sits fifth among the 12-team field while a pair of Cardinal stand in the top 10.

Stanford held strong Monday with rounds of 292-289 to finish 3-under through 36 holes. Washington leads the pack at 16-under.

No. 3 Stanford resumes play Tuesday at the 54-hole event, which is the first non-member tournament ever to be held at par-73, 6,112-yard track in the 10-year history of the course.

Mariah Stackhouse had a bogey-free back nine to open with a 71, and overcome two back-nine bogeys with birdies on three of the last four holes for another 71 to finish at 4-under.

Stackhouse sits in a tie for sixth and Mariko Tumangan is tied for 10th. Tumangan matched the second-lowest opening-round score with a 69. Tumangan started her first round par-bogey-birdie-eagle while registering a 4-under. She would finish with a 1-over 74 in the second round.

Casey Danielson followed her 5-over 78 with a 3-under 70, Lauren Kim went 74-76, and Quirine Eijkenboom finished 6-over after rounds of 78 and 74.
