BERKELEY, Calif. – No. 5 Stanford took on third-ranked Cal in an unscored triple-distance meet Wednesday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
In the unscored triple-distance meet, student-athletes divided into specialty groups and competed with one another in three races to determine a specialty champion in each of swimming’s six event domains: sprint (50, 100, 200 free), distance (200, 500, 1,000 free), fly (50, 100, 200), breast (50, 100, 200), back (50, 100, 200) and individual medley (100, 200, 400).
Tom Kremer was third in the 50 fly (22.45), second in the 100 (49.55) and won the 200 edition in 1:47.64.
David Nolan won the 50 back (22.60) and took third in the 100 (50.26) behind Ryan Arata (50.22). Nolan (1:49.29) was second in the 200 in front of Arata (1:49.49).
In the breast events, Christian Brown (26.21) was second in the 50 with Mason Shaw (26.36) touching third. Brown won the 100 in 57.05. Shaw was second in the 200 at 2:04.87.
Fifth-place Connor Black (20.83) was Stanford’s highest finisher in the 50 free.
Max Williamson held his own by going 52.39 in the 100 IM for third and claimed silver in the 200 (1:50.09) and 400 (3:51.60).
Danny Thomson checked in with a 1:41.93 for second in the 200 free. Justin Buck was second in the 500 (4:30.52) and 1,000 (9:09.93).
Stanford closed the meet by going 1:30.80 in the 200 medley relay for second and 1:23.60 in the 200 free relay for third.
Next up for Stanford is a trip to Las Vegas for the UNLV Invite (Nov. 21-23).
