• Stanford improved to 28-11 all-time in season openers with Saturday’s win. The victory also marked the 13th straight year that the Cardinal opened a campaign with a win. The last loss for Stanford in a season opener was a 75-64 setback at Saint Mary’s on Nov. 17, 2000 (2000-01 season).
• Stanford improved to 3-1 all-time against Boston College.
• Boston College's 71 points marked the first time since Jan. 28, 2012 that an opponent had hit the 70-point mark against Stanford. Prior to Saturday the Cardinal owned a streak of 54 games without allowing an opponent to hit 70 points. The last team to do this before Saturday was California, which scored 71 points in a 74-71 overtime loss to Stanford on Jan. 28, 2012 at Maples Pavilion.
• Chiney Ogwumike’s 30 points and 14 rebounds accounted for her 59th career double-double
• Chiney Ogwumike’s 30 points marked her third-career 30-point game. Her last 30-point game was when she scored a career-high 32 points at Oregon State on Feb. 3, 2013.
• Junior point guard Amber Orrange scored 19 points with 10 assists and a career-high nine rebounds. She came up one rebound short of her first triple-double and of Stanford’s ninth all-time triple-double. The last triple-double by a Stanford player was on March 18, 2002 when Nicole Powell went for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Tulane in an NCAA Tournament game.
• Redshirt senior forward Mikaela Ruef grabbed 10 rebounds, marking the ninth double-digit rebounding game of her career. She had eight such games in 2012-13.
• Redshirt sophomore guard Alex Green made the first start of her Stanford career Saturday, and scored the first points of her collegiate career. She finished with two points.
• Saturday marked the collegiate debuts of freshmen Kailee Johnson (first start, 14 minutes, zero points, 0-1 FG), Erica McCall (three points, two assists, 1-4 FG, 10 minutes), Karlie Samuelson (three points, 1-4 3-pt FG, 17 minutes) and Lili Thompson (two points, two assists, eight minutes).
• Stanford will visit No. 1/1 Connecticut Monday night at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) in Storrs. It will be just the second visit to Gampel Pavilion for Stanford. The Cardinal’s only previous game at Gampel was in the second meeting between the two schools, which Stanford won 68-54 on Feb. 20, 1993.
