2005-2006: Cardinal Award recipient. Varsity letter. Raced in Varsity 8+ that finished second at San Diego Crew Classic and Pacific Coast Rowing Championships
2004-2005: Varsity letter. Two-seat of Varsity 8+ that won San Diego Crew Classic, Pacific Coast Rowing Championships, and finishes 5th at nationals.
High School: Rowed for NCS. 2004 boat MVP. 2003 silver medal at Stotesbury in JV8+. Four years on Varsity cross-country. Co-captain and recipient of Coach's award in 2004. All-ISL 2004.
Personal: Earth Systems major. Post-grad plans include travel and work in green architecture. Spent last summer as an intern at The Humane Society of the US on Capitol Hill. ISC rush chair. Has a dog named Dylan. Enjoys 80's movies, skiing, and scrapbooking. Younger brother Stephen is a freshman at Stanford. Sister, Molly, is a freshman at National Cathedral School. Parents are David (Stanford Law '78) and Elizabeth Hayes. Born in Washington D.C.


Why I chose to attend Stanford: because it's beautiful, it was a nice change from the east coast, it's one of the best schools in the country, and because I got in!
What I love most about rowing for Stanford: the team, the water, the adrenaline from a good practice or race.
