International Competition: At the 2009 U.S. World Championship Trials, was fourth in the "C" final of the 200 butterfly and third in the "C" final of the 100 butterfly.... competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic trials from Omaha, Neb., in the 200 fly...competed at the 2007 national championships in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and the 800 free relay... also competed at the U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash., where he was second in the "B" finals of the 200-meter butterfly (1:59.68), two-tenths short of the leader... was second in the "B" finals of the 100 butterfly with a personal-best 53.28.

2009-2010 Season (Senior): Placed sixth in the 200 butterfly against Arizona...placed third in the 100 butterfly at the Toshiba Classic (49.3).

2008-09 Season (Junior): Did not swim.

2007-08 Season (Sophomore): Helped Stanford to a 27th straight Pac-10 title with an eighth-place finish in the 100 and 200 fly and a 13th-place finish in the 100 fly at the Pac-10 championships...finished 18th in the 500 free at the Pac-10 championships...recorded national `B' standards in both the 100 and 200 fly.

2006-07 Season (Freshman): Helped Stanford to its 26th consecutive Pac-10 title with a fifth-place finish in the 200 fly (1:47.10, 1:46.40 prelims), and 10th in the 100 fly (48.44, 48.14 prelims) at the conference meet, obtaining NCAA B cuts in both events...also competed in the 500 free at the conference championships.

High School: A 2006 graduate of Crespi Carmelite High School...a four-year letterwinner...captained the team during his senior season...team MVP during his junior and senior campaigns...a six-time NISCA All-American...set school records in the 100 fly and the 500 free...the 2005 CIF Southern Section Division I champion in the 100 fly and the runner-up in 2006...also lettered in water polo and helped his team to the playoffs ... a three-time U.S. swimming scholastic All-American...a NISCA Academic All-American...named the 2006 Crespi Carmelite High School Student-Athlete of the Year...ASB president...National Honor Society.

Personal: English major with a minor in science, technology and sociology...parents are James and Kelley Simpkins...has three brothers - Brennan, Blair and Sean.
