Stanford Stumbles At Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz.- Anthony Brown scored a team-high 21 points but Stanford fell short in a 76-64 loss at Arizona State on Thursday night.

The Cardinal (18-9, 9-6 Pac-12) missed a chance to take over sole possession of third place in the conference, as the Sun Devils (20-8, 9-6 Pac-12) salvaged a split of the season series. Instead, both teams joined California and Colorado in a four-way tie in the Pac-12 standings.

Chasson Randle added 17 points and Dwight Powell chipped in with 11 for Stanford, which shot 39.6 percent and was hindered by 15 turnovers.

Jahii Carson’s game-high 26 points led Arizona State, which built an early lead and connected on 10-19 from three-point territory.

The Cardinal never got closer than nine in the second half.

Stanford missed 11 of its first 15 shots and trailed 34-19 with 3:17 left in the first half, as Arizona State led 39-29 at the break.

Stanford concludes its road swing on Sunday, March 2, at No. 3/3 Arizona in a 5 p.m. PT tip.
