LOS ANGELES – No. 8 Stanford improved to 7-0 on the season Saturday with a 170-128 dual meet win over No. 4 USC at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.

“We competed very well today against most of USC’s strengths,” Goldman Family Director of Men’s Swimming Ted Knapp said. “Our freshmen are really starting to contribute, and Daniel Le was a standout in that sense.”

Le aided the 400 medley relay squad to a win in 3:13.49 before winning the 100 (54.97) and 200 breast (1:59.62).

Kristian Ipsen blew the field away with a 405.60 off the 1-meter board with Bradley Christensen (375.80) taking second.

Ipsen carded another win in the 3-meter (413.40) ahead of Christensen’s second-place 374.85.

“The men are a very talented team, but only time will tell whether or not we will be ready to have a great NCAA Championships showing” head diving coach Rick Schavone said.

Danny Thomson (15:01.41), Justin Buck (15:23.96) and Bryan Offutt (15:33.05) went 1-2-3 in the 1,650 free, the first individual race on the day.

Third-place Tom Kremer (1:37.00) was the highest Cardinal finisher in the 200 free and bounced back for the win in the 100 (44.46). In the 50-yard version, Connor Black and Sean Duggan tied for third in 20.61.

David Nolan (48.84) got the win in the 100 back and touched second in the 200 back (1:47.71) behind USC’s Cary Wright (1:47.16).

Jimmy Yoder’s 4:28.56 was third-best in the 500 free.

Gray Umbach (1:47.72) took second in the 200 fly and was third in the 100 (48.63). Black was second in the 100 edition with a 48.37.

Max Williamson (3:53.56) finished only head of second-place Offutt (3:57.18) in the 400 IM.

Nolan, Thomas Stephens, Black and Kremer teamed to cap off the day with a first-place finish in the 200 free relay (1:20.58).

The Cardinal’s final competition before the Pac-12 Championships will be Feb. 22 when it plays host to Cal. The 11 a.m. (PT) meet will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
