Trio in Top 10

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Casey Danielson took four shots off her opening-round 72 and Stanford chipped into team leader UCLA’s cushion on day two of the San Diego State Farms Invitational.

Danielson closed her round Tuesday with a 68, putting her in a tie for second with teammate Lauren Kim at 4-under. Kim’s second round yielded a 71 at The Farms Golf Club, a par-72 course located just north of San Diego.

The Cardinal is second with a 1-under 575 (290-285), four shots behind UCLA (285-286). USC surged into third by shaving 17 shots off its total from Monday, turning in a 281 to sit four shots behind Stanford.

San Diego State’s Emma Henrickson leads all players at 7-under.

“The course is a great test of golf, and we’re becoming a better team by playing here,” said Anne Walker, Stanford’s Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf.

Mariah Stackhouse followed her 70 with a 1-over 73 and is tied for seventh, making the Cardinal the only team with three players in the top 10.

Marissa Mar shot a 73, 10 shots better than her opening round, and Mariko Tumangan settled for an 86.

Stanford will join USC and UCLA in the final grouping and begins the third and final round of play Wednesday at 9:09 a.m. (PT). Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.
