STOCKTON, Calif. – Nine Cardinal batters combined for 10 hits and Madi Schreyer pitched five shutout innings Friday, as No. 24/23 Stanford earned a convincing 8-0 victory at Pacific.

With the win, Stanford (24-11, 1-5 Pac-12) swept the season series against the Tigers (11-19, 0-0 WCC) and ended a five-game losing streak – the Cardinal’s longest such streak on the season.

Schreyer (17-6) was dominant in the circle, not allowing a run or walk, while permitting six hits in 5.0 innings. She holds a 2.33 ERA in 153.1 innings pitched on the season.

The Cardinal was dominant offensively recording a hit in every inning and drawing six walks. Hanna Winter led the team with two hits while seven Cardinal players recorded a hit apiece. Leah White paced Stanford with two RBI.

Bessie Noll, Cassandra Roulund, Tylyn Wells and White recorded stolen bases. The Cardinal has stolen 48 bases in 53 attempts this season.

Stanford jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. After White and Kayla Bonstrom reached base on walks to start the game, Kylie Sorenson hammered an RBI-double off the left-field fence to get the Cardinal on the board.

Noll made it 2-0 with an RBI-walk, followed by a single by Winter to stretch Stanford’s lead to three. Stanford capitalized on a wild pitch to score another run and Roulund capped the scoring with a hard-hit sacrifice fly to center to extend the Cardinal’s lead to 5-0.

Stanford added two runs in the third when White singled to score Winter and Noll. Bonstrom singled in the fifth inning to bring home Roulund and give the Cardinal an 8-0 advantage.

Schreyer pitched a strong fifth inning to keep Pacfic off the board and secure the victory.

Stanford has the next three days off before returning to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. at San Jose State. The game will be the first in a stretch for the Cardinal that includes seven games in 12 days.
