Top-10 Finish for Cardinal

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Stanford women’s golf team tied with Auburn for 10th at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, which concluded Sunday at Long Cove Club. Stanford was 47-over after rounds of 297-303-299 (899).

Duke topped the 17-team field with a 10-over as the Blue Devils’ Yu Liu won the tournament at 2-under.

“I’m disappointed with our performance this week, but we saw a lot of positives,” said Anne Walker, Stanford’s Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women’s Golf. “Casey (Danielson) has gotten a lot better and now has the ability to shoot good numbers in the toughest of conditions. The focus for us in the next two weeks will be the short game, and if we want to be a legitimate contender we have to able to save par on all occasions.”

Danielson was Stanford’s highest finisher, tying for 15th with a team-best 71 in the final round. Danielson’s rounds improved each day, as her 75-74-71 was 7-over for the tournament. She moved ahead 11 spots after standing in 26th through two rounds.

Mariah Stackhouse (70-77-74) was 8-over for the tournament, including a 2-over on the front and a 5-over back nine on Sunday. Stackhouse tied for 21st, 10 spots ahead of Lauren Kim (76-75-73). Kim’s final-round 73 was her best while totaling an 11-over scorecard at the three-day, 54-hole event on the par-71 course.

Marissa Mar (76-78-81) tied for 74th and Quirine Eijkenboom (78-77-81) tied for 77th.

Stanford returns to action March 24-26 at the San Diego State Farms Invitational in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
