STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 2 Stanford women’s rowing team collected several awards from the Collegiate Coaches Rowing Association on Tuesday.

Head coach Yasmin Farooq, who led the Cardinal to its first Pac-12 Championship in school history, was selected as the CRCA West Regional Coach of the Year. It is the first such honor for Farooq and the Stanford program.

Four Cardinal rowers earned All-Region honors in the West, including three first team selections. Seniors Anna Dawson, Daphne Martschenko and Kristy Wentzel were all first team honorees as Stanford tied with Washington for the most individuals on the first team. Sophomore Filippa Karrfelt received her first All-Region honor as a member of the second team.

Martschenko picked up her second career first team All-Region selection as she was also honored in 2012. Wentzel was a second team choice in 2012, while Dawson was a second team pick in 2011.

Seven individuals were named CRCA Scholar Athletes. The list included senior human biology major Christina Bax, junior French major Naomi Cornman, senior computer science major Ali Fauci, graduate student in management science and engineering Valerie Frank, sophomore Emily Grundman, anthropology and Slavic language and literatures major Daphne Martschenko and sophomore Ellie Parker.

Bax, Fauci and Martschenko all made the list for the third straight year, while Cornman has made it in back-to-back seasons. Frank, Grundman and Parker were all first time honorees.
