LOS ANGELES – The No. 12 Stanford men’s volleyball team dropped a 25-16, 27-25, 25-19 decision at fifth-ranked USC, Monday, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. The Cardinal falls to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, while the Trojans move to 3-0 and 2-0 in the conference.

As a team, USC hit .371 while holding Stanford to a .165 clip. The Trojans posted a side out rate of 73 percent, 16 points higher than the Cardinal’s 57 percent. USC also outblocked Stanford 8.5 to 6.0.

Stanford was led by redshirt senior Daniel Tublin, who tallied a match-high 11 kills and two service aces. True freshman Evan Enriques totaled a match-best eight digs to go with two kills and three blocks. Junior middle blocker Conrad Kaminski finished with six kills and five blocks.

Junior setter James Shaw turned in 26 assists, four digs and two kills for the Cardinal while guiding the offense. Senior middle blocker Spencer Haly hit .600 (6-0-10).

USC had four player record nine kills in the match. Senior setter Micah Christenson finished with 40 assists, four kills and four digs. The Trojans are the only undefeated team left in the MPSF this season.

Stanford returns to The Farm on Wednesday, Jan. 21 to play host to No. 10 Long Beach State. The Cardinal and 49ers will meet in Maples Pavilion at 8 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
