Swinging In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Mariah Stackhouse and Casey Danielson each signed off on a 2-over 74 as the Stanford women’s golf team wrapped up the UC Irvine Invitational. The 54-hole event concluded Tuesday at the par-72 Santa Ana Country Club, with the Cardinal claiming 11th overall.

Stackhouse, who was 4-over for the tournament to finish tied for 21st, was steady with 14 pars and a birdie on the par-4 12th. Danielson was six shots better than her previous two round and caught fire with five birdies. Danielson tied for 58th at 17-over.

Stanford (300-298-303) scrapped together a 15-over in the third and final round to finish outside the top-10 among the 13-team field. The Cardinal was up and down throughout the tournament, finishing with a collective 37-over.

Marijosse Navarro of Texas A&M won the individual title with a par on the fifth playoff hole to earn an exception into the LPGA’s Kia Classic.

Washington took home the team crown with a 10-under 854. The Huskies were even on the day, with UNLV making a late charge with a Tuesday-best 12-under for fourth.

Lauren Kim followed her second-round 69 with a 5-over 77. Kim went 2-over through 54 holes to tie for 18th, down 14 spots from her fourth-place standing to open the day.

Quirine Eijkenboom (75-77-80) tied for 58th at 16-over and Calli Ringsby (80-84-78) was 69th at 26-over.

Stanford returns to Southern California for the Bruin Wave Invitational (March 2-3) in Tarzana, California.
