Top-5 at Bruin Wave Invite

TARZANA, Calif. – No. 14 Stanford battled rain and tough conditions during the Bruin Wave Invitational and ultimately finished fifth among the 15-team field Tuesday at the par-72 El Caballero Country Club.

Stanford (298-304-309) was third after the first round, second after the penultimate round and fifth overall to conclude the event hosted by Pepperdine and UCLA at 47-over.

Top-ranked Washington (+26) took top honors ahead of No. 4 UCLA (+35), Oklahoma State (+37) and San Diego State (+45).

Lauren Kim was the clubhouse leader through one round -- and several holes after -- when a 40-minute rain delay late prevented teams from completing 36 holes on Monday, and play was suspended due to darkness. Kim (72-72-80) dropped back to eighth overall with an 8-over.

Mariko Tumangan (73-77-75) competed as an individual and came through with an 8-over for 13th. Behind her was Mariah Stackhouse (75-76-75), who contributed a 15th-place showing at 10-over.

Tying for 28th was Casey Danielson (70-82-78) at 14-over. Danielson’s opening-round 70 was the best of any Cardinal golfer during the tournament.

Quirine Eijkenboom (81-75-76) tied for 33rd and Shannon Aubert (81-81-82) made her spring debut tied for 66th at 28-over.

The Cardinal has a couple weeks off before heading to Georgia's Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic (March 27-29) in Athens, Georgia.
