TEMPE, Ariz. – Lauren Kim nearly posted a bogey-free opening round to lead the Stanford women’s golf team Friday at the PING/Arizona State Invitational.
Kim was 3-under on the front nine and added two more birdies on the back, but closed with a bogey on the 18th to finish at 4-under. Kim's 68 is tied for second among individuals.
Arkansas posted three scores of par or better to take the overall team lead at 4-under. Duke is a close second at 2-under and host Arizona State stands in third at 1-under.
Stanford, Arizona and South Carolina are tied for fourth with an even-par 288 at the par-72 Karsten Golf Course.
Quirine Eijkenboom used birdies on 15 and 17 to go to 1-under. She double-bogeyed the 18th for a 1-over 73. Shannon Aubert matched Eijkenboom’s score to tie for 29th.
Casey Danielson was 3-over and Mariah Stackhouse stacked five birdies during her 2-over 74 performance.
Mariko Tumangan is narrowly outside the top-50 with a 3-over 75.
