STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford sand volleyball team (8-4) wraps up this week, hosting Saint Mary’s (4-13) on Tuesday, April 21 and Santa Clara (7-5) on Thursday, April 23, both at 4:30 p.m. PT at the Stanford Sand Volleyball Stadium. Admission is free.
It is the first meeting of the season between Stanford and Saint Mary’s in a dual match. The Cardinal is 0-2 overall against the Gaels. Stanford defeated Santa Clara, 3-2, on March 7. Thursday’s meeting will be the seventh time the squads have played in the past three seasons with the Cardinal holding a 5-1 series lead.
The Cardinal will travel to California (7-14) for its regular-season finale on Sunday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the season between Stanford and Cal. The Cardinal is 1-0 all-time against the Golden Bears.
Stanford’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams have remained the same this season. Senior Lauren Birks and junior Brittany Howard have complied an 11-6 record in the top spot, while junior Madi Bugg and redshirt freshman Ivana Vanjak are 10-5 in the No. 2 spot.
