STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford juniors Drew Jackson and Zach Hoffpauir were named All-Pac-12 honorable mention, the conference announced Wednesday. Both are highly-touted prospects who are likely to be taken early in June’s MLB Draft.

Hoffpauir led the team in home runs (4) and was tied for the third in RBI (23) despite missing 23 games after injuring his wrist in the second game of the season. The two-time honorable mention all-conference honoree hit .289 with a team-best .469 slugging percentage while hitting primarily in the middle of the Cardinal order.

The two-sport athlete, who doubles as a starting safety on the football team, majors in communication and hails from Chandler, Arizona. He has told media outlets that he would like to pursue a professional baseball career if he is selected high enough and offered enough money following this year’s MLB Draft.

Jackson proved to scouts that he is not only an above average defender with one of the best arms in college baseball by batting .320, over .100 better than his previous career high. He was slowed by an injured hand that made him miss 17 games from Feb. 21-March 20, but came back to hit safely in 20 of the last 23 games.

Athleticism and defense have never been in question for Jackson, a science, technology and society major from Orinda, California. The 6-2, 195-pound agile shortstop is one of the fastest players on the team and can routinely make difficult plays look easy thanks to his powerful arm.

The 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft runs June 8-10.
