HENLEY, England – The Stanford women’s rowing team started its run through the Henley Women’s Regatta on Friday with a victory in the pair.
Recent international relations graduate Courtney Carrabino and sophomore Reilly Hayes teamed up in the pair event to go up against the Norwich Rowing Club from Eastern England.
The Cardinal duo looked strong throughout the race and opened up a big lead on Norwich. Stanford crossed the finish line in 5:40 to win by 3.5 lengths.
The victory advances Carrabino and Hayes to the next round where they will face Nottingham/Queens Belfast from Ireland. The Irish squad had the fastest time on Friday with a 5.33 in its win.
The eight and the 4x will also get to race for the first time on Saturday. The eight drew a first round showdown with NCAA foe Brown. The quad will also face Brown in its opening contest.
