Friday Times Announced

HENLEY-ON-THAMES, U.K. – Times for Friday’s racing at the Henley Royal Regatta have been announced as Stanford women’s rowing learned when their first races of the regatta would be.

First up will be the quad at 10:10 a.m. against the combined boat featuring Quintin Boat Club and the California Rowing Club. The varsity eight will leave the start line at 2:50 p.m. and will race versus Brown University.

The quad and the eight will get their first opportunity to race in front of the pomp and circumstance of a crowd largely consisting of gentlemen in suits, ties and hats and ladies in long dresses and hats.

Two days of practicing during the lunch break has given the Cardinal a small taste of the atmosphere, but on Friday they will get to live it in full.

All races can be viewed live on the Henley Royal Regatta YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/user/HenleyRoyalRegatta

Alum Michelle Vezie ’11 will race for Imperial London and Sport Imperial following the tea interval at 5:30 p.m. Vezie will sit seven seat against Canada’s Western Rowing Club, which is essentially the Canadian national team.

Signee Elizabeth Sharis raced for the first time on Thursday and earned a win by 2 1/2 lengths over The Tideway Sculler’s School. Sharis and her club, Y Quad Cities, posted a time of 7:31 and will advance to the next round on Friday at 7:10 p.m. versus Latymer Upper School.
