• Stanford concludes a two-game road swing Friday with a Pac-12 Conference contest at Oregon State.

• The Cardinal (2-1 overall, 1-0 Pac-12) won its league opener last week with a 41-31 defeat of sixth-ranked USC. Fifth-year senior RB Remound Wright scored three touchdowns and fifth-year senior QB Kevin Hogan passed for 279 yards on a near-flawless 18-of-23 passing performance, with two touchdown passes and no interceptions. The lead changed hands three times and the teams combined for 901 yards, but Stanford overcame an 11-point second-quarter deficit and outscored the Trojans, 31-10, for the final two and a half quarters. It was Stanford’s first victory in the series since 2012, but its fifth in their past seven meetings.

• The Cardinal, which fell from the polls after a season-opening loss at Northwestern, enters the matchup ranked 21st by the AP and 24th by USA Today.

• Stanford and Oregon State will meet for the 82nd time in the series history. Stanford’s 53 wins over the Beavers are the second-most in any Cardinal series.

• When ranked, the Cardinal is 9-1 all-time against Oregon State. The lone loss came in 1956.

• The Cardinal has won five straight over the Beavers and six of the last seven.

• Stanford’s is 53-25-3 all-time vs. Oregon State. Its .602 winning pct. against the Beavers is the Cardinal’s best against any Pac-12 opponent.

• Oregon State has not eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark against Stanford since 2009. Stanford has held Oregon State to 1.77 yards/rush (122-216) in its last five meetings.

• Fifth-year senior QB Kevin Hogan made his first career start against Oregon State in 2012. Hogan was 22 of 29 passing for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 49 rushing yards in the 27-23 comeback win.

• Under head coach David Shaw, Stanford is 4-0 vs. Oregon State, 29-8 in Pac-12 regular season games, 16-8 on the road, 13-3 in September, 30-11 coming off a win, 28-4 against unranked opponents, 21-8 in night games and 3-0 on FOX Sports 1.

• Stanford and Texas are the only schools among the 68 Power 5 and independent programs to play 12 FBS opponents, 11 of which are Power 5 schools or Notre Dame. Five of Stanford’s 12 regular-season opponents -- No. 7 Oregon, No. 8 USC, No. 11 Notre Dame, No. 13 UCLA and No. 22 Arizona -- were ranked in the AP’s preseason top 25.

• Stanford requires students to declare a major before their junior year. Among the team’s upperclassmen, 16 majors are represented. Eleven Cardinal are engineering majors. Majors with three or more Cardinal student-athletes: communication, economics, human biology, management science and engineering, psychology, public policy, and science, technology and society.

• No program in the nation has a higher graduation rate over the past four years than Stanford (99 %). Even more, no Pac-12 Conference team has had more draftees over the last four years than Stanford (19).

• Stanford’s entire full-time coaching staff from the 2014 season returned for the 2015 campaign. It’s the first time since 1999-2000 under Tyrone Willingham that Stanford’s staff remained intact.

• Stanford’s roster includes student-athletes from 28 states and Canada.

• Fifth-year senior QB Kevin Hogan, senior LG Joshua Garnett, senior LT Kyle Murphy, fifth-year senior CB Ronnie Harris, fifth-year senior OLB Kevin Anderson and senior ILB Blake Martinez serve as captains, as voted by their teammates. Hogan is Stanford’s first two-time team captain since Bo McNally (2008-09).
