STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 3 Stanford men’s soccer team was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday with the College Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.

A total of 859 soccer teams (305 men, 554 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn recognition. Stanford was one of 208 schools to have both its men’s and women’s soccer programs recognized.

The Cardinal posted a cumulative 3.29 GPA during 2014-15 and is the only Pac-12 men’s soccer program on the list.

Last fall, Stanford boasted four NSCAA Scholar All-West Region honorees, two Capital One Academic All-District selections and 12 Pac-12 All-Academic picks.

Stanford’s seven game winning streak is currently tied with No. 1 Creighton for tops in the nation. The Cardinal (7-1), Creighton (7-0) and No. 15 Wake Forest (7-1) are the only schools in the country with seven victories.

Stanford begins its quest for back-to-back Pac-12 titles at No. 20 California on Sunday, October 4 at 4 p.m. The Cardinal’s home conference slate begins on Friday, October 9 at 8 p.m. against No. 10 Washington.
