STANFORD, Calif. – Led by senior Jordan Burgess, seven Cardinal women's volleyball players were recognized today when Commissioner Larry Scott announced the annual Pac-12 All-Academic teams.

Burgess, a native of Fort Myers, Florida, was named to the seven-player first team. A human biology major with a 3.62 GPA, she earns her third career honor after collecting honorable mention in 2013 and 2014. A Senior CLASS Award finalist, she was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team and is now eligible to become an Academic All-American.

Earning Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors for Stanford were seniors Madi Bugg and Brittany Howard, junior Kelsey Humphreys, redshirt sophomores Merete Lutz and Ivana Vanjak and sophomore Sarah Benjamin.

Bugg (Apex, N.C., political science) and Howard (Los Altos, Calif., science, technology and society) are three-time honorees, while Lutz (Houston, Texas, human biology) garners her second career accolades.

Humphreys (science, technology and society), Vanjak (chemical engineering) and Benjamin, who hails from San Diego, California, are being recognized for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for the selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Freshman and transfer students in their first season with a team are not eligible.
