WUG: Welcome to Gwangju

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's water polo program is on the ground in Gwangju, South Korea to represent the United States at the 2015 World University Games.

Upon touching down, training sessions with Canada, Russia and Australia followed, as well as some free time in the city. To see how Stanford spent its first few days at the Olympic-like event, watch the video below.

The Cardinal begins Pool B play on Friday, July 3 at 9:00 a.m. local time against Australia. It will also meet France on Sunday, July 5 at 5:00 p.m. and Hungary on Tuesday, July 7 at 2 p.m. before classification games begin at the end of the week.

The World University Games, or Universiade, is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). Held every two years in cities around the globe, the Universiade incorporates both educational and cultural aspects into 12 days of sports competitions and features more than 9,000 student-athletes and officials from over 170 countries.
