STANFORD, Calif. – A record fourteen Stanford women’s water polo student-athletes were named to the All-Academic list released Friday by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).
Stanford’s 14 honorees were easily the most in the MPSF and the highest total in program history, surpassing the 12 academic All-Americans from 2013. The Cardinal has had at least 10 players on the ACWPC All-Academic list each of the past seven seasons.
Student-athletes eligible for the ACWPC All-Academic award must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Athlete merit levels include "excellent" (3.2 to 3.4), "superior" 3.41 to 3.7 and "outstanding" 3.71 to 4.0.
Lauren Norheim was named to the “outstanding” list while Shannon Cleary, Ashley Grossman, Jordan Raney, Maggie Steffens and Katie Dudley each earned “superior” honors. Jamie Neushul, Anna Yelizarova, Emily Dorst, Gabby Stone, Cassidy Papa, Natalie Chun, Dani Jackovich and Gurpreet Sohi rounded out Stanford’s accolades with “excellent” recognition.
Senior Ashley Grossman and Emily Dorst both earned their fourth spot on the ACWPC All-Academic list. Maggie Steffens and Gabby Stone were honored for the third straight year while Dani Jackovich, Jamie Neushul, Cassidy Papa, Gurpreet Sohi and Anna Yelizarova received a nod for the second time.
Each of Stanford’s five freshmen – Natalie Chun, Shannon Cleary, Katie Dudley, Lauren Norheim, Jordan Raney – also earned recognition in their first year on The Farm.
