STANFORD, Calif. - No. 18 Stanford opened its season with a 6-0 victory over Sacramento State on Wednesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (1-0) quickly captured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, as the No. 3 duo of Yale Goldberg and David Wilczynski secured the point with a 6-2 win.
Nolan Paige extended the Cardinal’s lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Joaquin Marquez on court two, before Sameer Kumar notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot over Kasparas Zemaitelis in his first collegiate match.
Wilczynski provided the clincher with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Mikus Losbergs at the No. 1 spot of the lineup.
The second half of Wednesday’s doubleheader is a 3 p.m. contest against No. 57 UC Davis.
