STANFORD, Calif. - No. 18 Stanford posted a 6-0 victory over No. 57 UC Davis in match two of a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (2-0) jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with the No. 1 team of Nolan Paige and Maciek Romanowicz closing out a 6-4 win to lock up the doubles point.
Michael Genender fired off a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 5 spot over Everett Maltby to make it 2-0, while Sameer Kumar finished just after him with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot over Eli Whittle.
With several matches nearing the finish, the clincher came from ninth-ranked Tom Fawcett, who topped 38th-ranked Alec Adamson in a gritty 7-6, 6-2 match.
The Cardinal next travel east to face No. 14 Virginia Tech on Saturday at 7 a.m. PT in the ITA Kick-off Weekend at Columbia University in New York, N.Y.
