A Stanford softball student-athlete has written a weekly blog in each of the past three seasons to provide fans a behind-the-scenes perspective of the team. This year, sophomore Arden Pettit is taking over the Softblog to chronicle the team's adventures throughout the season. Her second entry this year is below.

Hello again Stanford softball fans!
Writing this from 20,000 feet in the sky as we travel back to Stanford after wrapping up our first weekend of the 2016 season. We all had a very productive weekend working on our farmer’s tans in the Arizona sun. It was a hot one, folks.
We needed all hands on deck this weekend to start the season off well. Savannah Schulze’s dad was able to help us in this department by providing us each a pair of mini plastic hands. They proved quite useful and incredibly entertaining throughout our trip.
Below are some of the ways we found them quite useful.
They're great for tying shoes …
Or, coding your computer science homework ...
Grabbing a quick post game meal …
Making a quick call …
These hands even helped us out on the field. Perfect for some pregame pump-up music …
Frosty found them useful during batting practice …
On our way home, the flight attendants were extremely happy to have some helping hands, especially in the exit rows …
They also appreciated our “safety first” mentality ...
Our hands allowed us to make the most of our airplane activities …
Whitney found the hands a little creepy but she appreciates the possibilities they create …
All in all it was a great first weekend and we can’t wait to get back to work this week as we prepare for our home opener this weekend! Until next time Arizona …
A big round of applause for all the fans that came out to support us. We hope to see you back out there this weekend at Stanford!
Catch you guys next week,
- Ardy Pardy
