STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford women’s gymnast Ivana Hong was named the Pac-12 Specialist of the Week for her standout performance this past weekend at the Metroplex Challenge, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Hong won beam and tied for fifth on bars, contributing two crucial routines. Her performance in the third position on beam was particularly impressive, coming immediately after the gymnast before her fell. Hong followed the missed routine with a meet-best performance that helped Stanford finish the rotation with the highest beam score of any team at the meet (49.300).
Her performance on bars was also clutch as it helped Stanford complete a solid third rotation after a tough start on floor and vault. She has scored 9.775 or higher on bars in all four performances this season.

It is the first conference weekly honor for Hong this year. Stanford has been represented each week in the conference awards following three consecutive weeks of Elizabeth Price being selected as the Gymnast of the Week.
Hong and the Cardinal play host to Arizona State on Monday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
