SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Haley Snyder held Santa Clara to one run and eight Stanford players registered at least one hit to help the Cardinal earn a 4-1 victory Wednesday night.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Cardinal (12-14, 0-3). Stanford improved to 48-4 all-time against the Broncos.

Snyder (6-6) got the start in the circle for Stanford and was terrific, tossing her fourth complete game of the season and limiting the Broncos (5-29) to one run on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Kayla Bonstrom led Stanford offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jessica Plaza and Kaitlin Schaberg contributed an RBI apiece.

Santa Clara took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. A single and wild pitch put Anne Yates on second and she was brought home on a two-strike, two-out RBI-double by Justine Garner.

Stanford leveled the score at 1-1 in the top of the third inning. Arden Pettit doubled with one out and was brought home on a two-out RBI-double by Bonstrom.

Kayla Bonstrom went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Santa Clara was threatening in the bottom half of the frame with runners on second and third with one out when Casandra Padilla flied out to Savannah Schulze in center field. Amanda Delfino tried to tag up and score on the play but Schulze threw a dart home to get the runner and end the inning.

Stanford took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Whitney Burks singled up the middle with two outs and was followed by Schaberg who doubled down the right field line to bring Burks around from first.

The Cardinal led off the top of the fifth with three consecutive singles to load the bases before Jessica Plaza delivered the fourth straight single to bring in a run and put Stanford up 3-1. Stanford was unable to capitalize further with the next three batters being retired in order.

The Cardinal scored a run in the fourth consecutive inning when it loaded the bases in the top of the sixth. A wild pitch brought Pettit in from third to give Stanford a 4-1 advantage.

Snyder closed the door, permitting just two hits over the final three innings to keep Santa Clara off the board.

Stanford continues play this weekend at home with a three-game series against Oregon State, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. (PT).
