EUGENE, Ore. - The Stanford men's crew varsity eight rowed past Oregon State Saturday morning on Dexter Reseroir to claim the ‘Mack Babitt Sr. Working Life’ trophy in its 2016 season opener.
The Cardinal covered the 2000-meter race course in 5:45.58, two seats clear of Oregon State, who clocked in at 5:46.37. Saturday marked the 12th consecutive varsity eight win against the Beavers (2005-2016).
"Today was a good early-season indicator of our team's potential for 2016," said head coach Craig Amerkhanian, in his 16 th season with the Cardinal. "All three shells raced well."
Stanford will be back in action April 2-3 in San Diego, Calif., competing in the San Diego Crew Classic.
