Cardinal Shuts Out USF

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 29 Stanford collected its third consecutive dual victory Monday afternoon, defeating San Francisco 4-0. Maciek Romanowicz collected his third clinching point of the season at the No.5 spot.

The Cardinal (13-8, 4-2 Pac-12) captured the doubles point rapid-fire with 6-2 and 6-3 wins at the Nos. 3 and 2 to take the 1-0 advantage. Trey Strobel and Anthony Tsodikov led the way for the Cardinal notching the first win of the day.

The Dons (4-17, 1-5 WCC) had no answer for the Cardinal as Stanford blazed past USF in singles, winning the first set in all six spots. Brandon Sutter grabbed the first point for Stanford, dispatching Jerod Mah  6-2, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot to make it 2-0.

Tom Fawcett went straight sets in the No. 1 spot, defeating Nils Skajaa 6-1, 6-1 before Maciek Romanowicz claimed the clincher at court 5 going 6-3, 6-2 over USF’s Woravin Kumthonkittikul to end it.

Stanford wraps its regular season on Saturday, as it travels to Berkeley to face No. 16 California. Match time is set for noon and will be aired live on Pac-12 Networks.
