Thoenen Added to Class of 2016

STANFORD, Calif. - Head men’s volleyball coach John Kosty has announced the signing of Jacob Thoenen to a National Letter of Intent today.

"In Jacob Thoenen, we are fortunate to add another wonderful scholar-athlete to the 2016 recruiting class," stated Kosty. "Jacob is a player that is capable of playing numerous positions, but will be focusing on the middle-blocker position to start.

"Although he is on the smaller side at 6-6, he has good length and strong athleticism. As with all of our incoming players, Jacob will represent our program and our university well as he is a dedicated student and an exceptional citizen."

Thoenen is a standout at Christian High School in O'Fallon, Missouri and a member of the St. Louis High Performance Volleyball Club. He earned a spot on the Archdiocesan Athletic Association All-Conference Team and was named the Conference Newcomer of the Year. As a junior in 2015, he was the AAA Conference Player of the year and first team all-state.

Thoenen has also acquired experience with the USA Volleyball programs. He was a member of the 2014 USA Volleyball Youth Continental Team and played at the USA Volleyball Boys National Youth Holiday Camp.

Thoenen (O'Fallon, Mo.) will join the Cardinal class of 2016, which also includes Eric Beatty (Huntington Beach, Calif.), Paul Bischoff (Wheaton, Ill.), Stephen Moye (El Segundo, Calif.), Mason Tufuga (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Eli Wopat (Goleta, Calif.).
