PLEASANTON, Calif. – Sophomore Shannon Aubert and senior Lauren Kim posted sub-par rounds Monday to spark Stanford in the opening round of the Pac-12 Women’s Golf Championships at Ruby Hill Golf Club.
Aubert shot a 2-under-par 70, carding her fourth birdie on her final hole, the par-4 ninth, while Kim made three birdies and finished with a 70. Aubert is tied for fifth, four strokes behind leader Haley Moore of Arizona. Kim has a share of 16th place, as 21 players broke par.
The sixth-ranked Cardinal combined for a four-player score of 1-under par 287 and is tied for seventh. Eight of the 11 teams recorded under par totals, paced by second-ranked USC at 10-under 278. Stanford trails second-place and top-ranked UCLA by five strokes in the 54-hole event.
Senior Mariah Stackhouse and freshman Sierra Kersten are tied for 32nd following 73s. Stackhouse made two birdies and three bogeys, while Kersten, competing for only the third time this season, birdied her last three holes.
Junior Casey Danielson shot 74 and is tied for 50th.
