Softblog: Team Behind the Team

I have a special treat for you this week Stanford softball fans!

But first, let’s give a brief recap of the weekend’s festivities.

So our lovely parents spoiled us and provided us with a glorious potluck dinner following Saturday night’s game. The spread featured Mr. Molina’s perfectly seasoned grilled chicken, Mrs. Lagattuta’s assortments of pasta salads (there were so many amazing kinds to choose from) and Mrs. Lee’s double chocolate chip cookies and many more delicious options.

We were well fed that night and it was a great opportunity to visit with all of the great families that make up Stanford softball. Victoria’s little sister AJ spent 20 minutes teaching me how to properly “hit the whip.” I’m still not sure if I have it down.

In addition to our potluck we also had a guest batgirl for Sunday’s game. Emma is without a doubt our biggest fan. She is 7-years-old and has not missed a home game in three years (yes, she was four when she started coming to games).

She even watches some of our away games on television. This year for her birthday (which was last week while we were at UCLA) she asked to be a batgirl for a game. Of course Coach Hanson allowed it, no one could turn Emma down.

Here are some action shots of Emma from Sunday.

And now its time for the special surprised I promised … an in-depth interview with our crafty team manager Theresa! For those of you who don’t know, Theresa was my roommate last year. She had no previous experience with softball but she came to all of our home games and made her dad buy the Pac-12 Network television package so she could watch our away games.

This year when coach asked if we knew anyone who would want to apply for the team manager position I thought Theresa would be a perfect fit and boy she has been awesome!

Not only does she provide the team with a great positive attitude day in and day out but she also makes every single player a personalized themed craft before each game.

Here is some of her handy work from this season.

So you guys can get to know our resident crafter even better, I asked her a few questions.
